The Loyalty Band in 18k yellow gold, pierced openwork, on a dark ground

Based in Los Angeles

The Loyalty
Line

A pierced band in five metals, drawn from the rings Bonapartists wore when loyalty was something you carried instead of something you showed.

The story

Origin

After Napoleon fell, allegiance to him carried genuine consequence in France. His supporters stayed loyal anyway, and they built the proof into jewelry.

The concealed symbol

His portrait, or a smaller symbol representing him, was kept on the inside of the piece, against the skin and out of everyone else’s view. It was never made for anyone else to look at. What it carried was a symbol of loyalty belonging to the person wearing it, and he or she did not need to show it to a single soul for it to mean everything it meant.

The violet flower

Napoleon said he would return with the violets in spring, and the violet flower became the sign his supporters kept for him. Because open allegiance was dangerous, it served as their discreet symbol of loyalty, understood among themselves and unremarkable to everyone else. Carried rather than displayed, it stood for a promise held quietly, holding significance in its meaning rather than an external appearance.

Loyalty that has to announce itself isn't loyalty.

The Loyalty Line takes that definition and none of the iconography. No emperor, no eagle, no crown. What carries over is the shape of the idea: a band that is closed from a distance and open in the hand, so the piece only gives itself up to someone standing close enough to have earned it.

Two marks, both turned inward. They placed the violet where no one would think to look, and we have done the same. A violet flower is engraved within the band, against the finger. Opposite it rests the second mark: the year of the piece, its number within that year's run, and the metal it is made in. The first silver band of 2026 reads 2026, 1/1000, 925. A yellow gold band from the same year reads 2026, 1/500, 18k. These are the only marks the ring carries beyond the design itself, and no one but the wearer will ever see either.

Line inspiration

Two things brought this line together. The first is a connection to the Bonaparte line in my own family, which led to my discovery of Napoleon's loyalty rings.

The second is closer to home. A small circle of friends has stood beside me through every chapter so far, without being asked and without ever needing it acknowledged. That is the form of loyalty this piece is built around, and the reason both of its marks face inward.

Line 01

The Loyalty Band

Kept, not shown

There is a version of loyalty that never asks for credit. The Loyalty Line is the object for it.

Every band is numbered, every year is capped, and both marks are engraved where only the wearer will find them.

Ask someone what the violet means. You will know immediately who you are talking to.

- A pierced band that reads as solid from across a room and opens into a lattice when someone gets close enough to look. Cut through the full wall, so the pattern is structure rather than surface.

Five metals, one form. What changes between them is weight, color, how the piece ages, and how many exist. The band width and profile are scaled to the wearer, so the design is made for men and women alike, and every piece is engraved inside with the violet flower, the year it was made, its number in that year's run, and its metal.

Production

Production lines,
capped every year

A production line is a fixed design made in a capped annual run. Every piece is engraved with the year, its number in that year, and its metal, so a band reads 2026, 1/1000, 925 and there will never be another one. The design does not change between years. The count starts over.

Bespoke commissions

A commission is drawn for one person, modeled until it is right, produced once, and never repeated. The file is retired when the piece ships.

I

Conversation

An hour, in person or on a call. What it is for, who wears it, what they already own and never take off.

II

CAD

Two or three directions on paper, then one carried into a CAD model you can turn and look through before anything is committed to metal.

III

Production

Stones selected with you and certified where they grade. Produced in 18k or platinum by our US manufacturer, then finished and inspected.

IV

Delivery

Presented with the stone documentation and a written record of the commission. Sizing and care are covered for life.

Everything is designed and made in the United States. The CAD is modeled here with our team, revised until the geometry is right on screen and right in the hand, then produced by a high end American manufacturer we work with directly.

Inquire

Pieces from a production line are not purchased directly. A request is sent, reviewed personally, and either approved or declined. Price is upon request: approved requests receive availability, the current run number, timing and price. Bespoke commissions begin the same way.

Requests for a production line are answered first. The design is already resolved, so little is asked of the calendar. A bespoke commission requires considerably more time, and is scheduled with greater restraint.

Appointments are required for bespoke pieces and are granted by availability, not held to a fixed timeline. Only a small number are taken each month, so that every client and every commission receives undivided attention. We will write when a place opens.

Held in Los Angeles, or by video where preferred.
